Are You Looking for a Sign?

I’m doing todays episode as a blog post because the connection to my podcast provider kept going in and out.

We’ve been studying about 2 Timothy 3:5 which says about having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof. Many people today are content with having a form of godliness. Yesterday, we studied that God is working in us to give us the desire and the power to do His Will. That is what some people lack, is the desire to do the will of God. A recent survey by Pew Research found that roughly 2/3 of Americans  do not fully embrace the concept of salvation solely through Jesus. That is the basic idea of our faith, and to deny that is to deny our faith altogether.

For many people, they already think they are “good enough” to secure a spot in Heaven. For others, they don’t understand basics like sin a, or they doubt the historical accuracy of the Bible. They are like those who Paul wrote about in 1 Corinthians 1:18 “For the preaching of the cross to them that perish foolishness; but unto us that are saved it is the power of God. We cannot have the Christian faith without having the cross of Jesus. Is the cross foolishness to you? Get right and come to that cross and get forgiveness.

In Matthew 13:3-8 we read the parable titled “The Parable of the Sower.” We are told that a farmer was spreading his seed. Most of the seeds landed in places that would provide no bounty, except 1. Friends, many people out there in social media would wish that we’d quit sharing Bible verses, or our podcast or our Sunday morning church services. But we can’t. We, like the farmer in the parable, scatter the seeds of God. It’s true, some of it will be snatched away by the devil, some of it will grow quickly and then be burned up by the sun. Some of it will be choked out by the cares of this world. But some, some will fall on good ground. Part of Galatians 6:9 tells us “Not be weary in well doing;” Don’t ever get tired of telling others about Jesus. You don’t know where those seeds are going.
