I am sitting here tonight writing this blog post instead of doing a ScriptureLinks Daily Dose of Inspiration podcast. Why? I am sick with the Covid. While I am beginning to feel better, I still can’t talk very well. The devil may have stopped my voice, but I can still type. After all, I’ve been wanting to do more blogging on the site. Maybe this is a good time to start.
When you look around at all that is going on in the world, do you see it as the beginning of the end? I know, I know, people have been saying for 2000 years that the rapture of the church is near and nothing ever happens. That does not mean it is never going to happen. As I recall from reading commentaries about the Ark, the world never saw flooding like it did after Noah completed the ark. And I’m certain that people did not heed the message of Noah, much like people today don’t heed our message either.
Luke 12:54-56 says this, “And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, there comets a shower; and so it is. And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass. Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye cannot discern this time?” Jesus was asking those around Him an important question. There He was, the Messiah that was promised to Israel, and they were missing Him. Sure, there was some that understood and knew He was the Messiah. There were probably many who believed, but didn’t want the religious leaders to find out. I bet there were some of the religious leaders that believed in Him too. Anyway, Jesus was challenging them.
He says that they can discern the weather by looking at the sky or by feeling a breeze. They do better than our weather people today. They knew and understood if rain was coming, or if it was going to be a hot day. Yet, with all their “knowledge” they failed to see Jesus as the Messiah, and He asks them how they can discern the weather, but fail to discern the sign of the Messiah? It’s an important question, and one I think we need to think about today.
It seems, quite often if not daily, that some kind of Bible prophecy is being fulfilled before our eyes. The spread of the Gospel being taught and proclaimed online is at an all time high. Yet, we, as a nation, keep kicking Jesus out. One would think that with the signs being revealed often, people would realize that we are indeed living in the last days and flock to Jesus. Sure, there is “pockets” of revival happening in our country. I think of that revival at Asbury College in Kentucky, or the CT Townsend revival in North Carolina a few years ago. But, in large, America is in no better shape than Israel was in the time of Jesus. We have all this knowledge, and absolutely nothing to show for it. We fail to be able to discern the times.
Friends, we need to continue telling others about Jesus. Yes, they will laugh at you, maybe even strike you, or even unfriend you on social media. But we must tell others about Jesus. What has Jesus done for you? What has Jesus brought you through. Use your experiences to start a conversation with someone, and share Jesus.
