Yesterday, we looked at how Paul received the Gospel—not from men, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. Today, Paul continues his story. In Galatians 1:18–24, Paul explains what happened after his conversion. We also look at Acts 9, where Paul begins preaching Christ, faces opposition, and eventually has to escape for his life. Paul’s story is a powerful reminder that a changed life doesn’t always happen overnight, and people don’t always immediately believe that you’ve changed. But God can take the person you were and use that very story to demonstrate His grace. Your past may explain where you’ve been, but it doesn’t have to determine where you’re going.

How do we recognize false doctrine before it takes root in our lives? In 2 Timothy 3:8-17, Paul warns Timothy about people who oppose the truth and resist sound teaching. But Paul doesn’t leave Timothy wondering where he should turn. He points him directly to the Scriptures—the Word of God that is profitable for teaching, correction, and instruction in righteousness. Then Galatians 1:8 gives us an incredibly serious warning: even if someone claims to bring a message from heaven, if that message contradicts the gospel already given, it must be rejected. In today’s Daily Dose, we continue exposing false doctrines by asking a difficult question: Are we grounded enough in God’s Word to recognize deception when it comes? Because you can’t recognize a counterfeit by studying counterfeits alone. You need to know the genuine article.

Jesus commanded His followers to go into all the world and teach the truth. But throughout Scripture, we see that not everyone wants to hear that truth. Jesus was rejected in His own hometown of Nazareth. Pilate stood face-to-face with Jesus and asked, “What is truth?” And when given the opportunity to release Jesus, the crowd demanded that Barabbas—a thief and criminal—be released instead. Paul warned Timothy that a time would come when people would not endure sound doctrine. Instead, they would look for teachers who would tell them what they wanted to hear. In this episode, we explore why people reject truth, why they sometimes prefer what is wrong over what is right, and why our responsibility isn’t to change the truth to make people comfortable. We are called to proclaim the truth—even when people don’t want to hear it.

In Luke 14:16-24, Jesus tells the parable of the great supper. A man prepares a great feast and sends out invitations, but when everything is ready, those who were invited begin making excuses. But notice what happens next. In verse 21, the master becomes angry and tells his servant to go into the streets and bring in the poor, the maimed, the halt, and the blind. Then, in verse 23, the command becomes even more urgent: “Compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.” And then comes the sobering warning of verse 24: “For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.” This isn’t simply a story about a dinner invitation. Jesus is revealing the seriousness of God’s invitation—and the danger of treating that invitation casually. God’s invitation is gracious. It is extended. The door is open. The healing of the lame man at the temple gate should have been a moment of celebration. Instead, it became the beginning of persecution for Peter and John. In Acts 3, God performs a miraculous healing. In Acts 4, the religious authorities respond with opposition and threats. But when Peter and John return to the believers, the church doesn’t respond with fear. They respond with prayer. Their prayer is remarkable. They don’t ask God to remove every obstacle. They ask Him to give them boldness to continue speaking His Word. And God answers. “And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.” — Acts 4:31, KJV This is the final part of When Prayer Changes the Story, and it reminds us that sometimes prayer doesn’t change the opposition around us—it changes us in the middle of the opposition.

Fear has a way of making our problems look bigger than our God. In 2 Kings 6, Elisha and his servant find themselves surrounded by the Syrian army. The servant sees horses, chariots, and soldiers—and assumes they are finished. But Elisha sees something his servant cannot yet see. Elisha responds with a powerful prayer: “Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see.” God opens the servant’s eyes, and suddenly he sees the mountain filled with horses and chariots of fire. In Part 4 of When Prayer Changes the Story, we discover that prayer doesn’t always change our circumstances immediately. Sometimes prayer changes our perspective. What looks like defeat may actually be the place where God is preparing to reveal His power.

Sometimes God allows circumstances to reach a point where there is no mistaking who deserves the glory when the answer comes. In Part 3 of When Prayer Changes the Story, we travel through 1 Kings 16:29–18:40 and encounter one of the most dramatic moments in Scripture. King Ahab has led Israel deeper into idolatry, Jezebel has promoted the worship of Baal, and God responds through Elijah with a devastating drought. There are moments when following Jesus is not easy. His teachings may challenge us, the road may become difficult, and the world may offer countless alternatives. Yet in John 6, Peter gives us one of the most powerful declarations of faith in Scripture: “Lord, to whom shall we go?” In this episode, we examine what it means to build our lives on Jesus Christ as the only true foundation.
