Luke 16:19-31
Luke 16:19-31ScriptureLinks Daily - June 12, 2023ScriptureLinks Daily - June 12, 2023Good morning and welcome to a brand new day! Today is National Peanut Butter Cookie Day. If you love peanut butter cookies, make sure you enjoy some today. If you're following along with us in the book of Psalms, we'll be reading chapters 57 through 62. Take ten minutes of your day to invest in God's word and build your relationship with Him.
Today's scripture reading comes from the Gospel of Luke, chapter 16, verses 19-31. In this passage, Jesus tells the story of a rich man and a beggar named Lazarus. The rich man lived a life of luxury, while Lazarus suffered in poverty. Upon their deaths, Lazarus was carried to Abraham's side, while the rich man found himself in torment in hell. The rich man pleaded for relief and for Lazarus to warn his brothers, but Abraham reminded him that they have the teachings of Moses and the prophets.
This story underscores the importance of heeding God's word and sharing our faith with others while we have the opportunity. It also serves as a caution against believing modern claims of people who say they have been to heaven or hell and returned. Scripture makes it clear that such crossings are not possible.
Reflect on this message as you go through your day. Remember to get into God's word, let it get into you, and share it with someone today. Have a blessed day!
