Good morning and welcome to this brand new day. This is Scripture Link'daily Dose of Inspiration for Wednesday, April 2, 2025. Did you get through April Fool's Day algh to fall for any, any pranks that was out there? You know, I find it fascinating that two different restaurant chains, Popeyes'chicken and Chick Fil a both on social media, said that they were goingna serve a pickle flavored lemonade. I thought that was interesting. I guess they used the same, advertising group. I don't know, I just thought that was kind of interesting. But anyway, today, Wednesday, February, April 2, today is National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day. Peanut butter and jelly sandwich day. Let me put that in there. I love a good peanut butter and jelly sandwich. But you know, one thing I like even better than that and I don't get it very often, because I've only ever seen it in Amish country in Pennsylvania. But the Amish make this donut. That's a peanut butter and jelly donut. Trust me. If you ever get to linecaster or Bird in Hand, one of those Amish communities there in Pennsylvania, do yourself a favor and go try a peanut butter and jelly donut. Ironically, it also is National Walking Day and doctors, I was looking here at the post on nationaldaycaleendar.com do it says that, that doctors recommend that we walk each day for 30 minutes a day. And they said some, that walking is one of the best exercises that we can do. Some of the benefits of walking are improved cardiovascular health, maintaining a healthy weight, improved flexibility in joints, stronger muscles and improved mental health. So maybe find some time today, take 30 minutes today, get outside and, and enjoy the springtime. If you're in a spot that's nice weather today and just go for a walk. I think I had read 2000 steps as equal to a mile. so go out there, spend 30 minutes, take yourself a walk and take time and praise God while you're out there. If you're reading in the Bible with us today, we're in Matthew chapter four through six and Proverbs chapter two. And if you didn't hear yesterday, I mentioned that we are going to read through the entire New Testament in 100 days. so started yesterday. So we're just one day into it. Why don't you join us on that challenge and, and get in there and spend time each day reading God's word. You know, you can get it that you can listen to it online. I think it's better to have the Bible open in front of you. But if you're going to go for that walk today, why don't you go on to the Bible app? I think that's what it's called now, the Bible app. And listen to the Bible as you're walking those 30 minutes.
Today, we're going to continue looking in Romans, chapter number six. And to give a quick recap, we're going to be spending some time going through this chapter verse by verse, because this chapter is teaching us important principles that we need to know and we need to understand so that we can start walking for the Lord and we're not going to fall back into serving sin. In verse number one, Paul says, what shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin? That grace may abound. Paul, up to this point's been talking about grace and about the favor of God and how God has given us, grace to come to him, to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, to start listening to him, to start following him. And he asked a question here. Since grace were in this age of grace, should we continue in sin? And grace is a great thing. You can never have enough grace. But we should not use that grace to sin, he says in verse two, God forbid, how shall we that are dead to sin live any longer therein? Jesus, he goes on in verses three through six talking about baptism and about how when we're baptized, when we get submerged under the water, we are likening onto Christ's death. And when we get raised up out of the water, we are likening onto the resurrection of Jesus. We are raised to walk in a new life. That's why in verse number two, he says, we that are dead to sin, or how shall we that are dead to sin live any longer therein? When we profess Jesus as our Lord Savior, when we've been baptized, we now are dead to sin. That's what we're going to focus on a little bit today. Jesus did not die on the cross so that we can just one day say a prayer, get baptized, and come out no different than we were before. You know, getting saved is something so much more than just saying what we call the sinner's prayer today. Getting saved means that we start walking for him. That's what we're studying right now. That is why Paul is emphasizing here in Romans chapter six, that we are dead to sin, we are raised to new life, and we should no longer serve sin, we should no longer live in Sin. Verse number seven of Romans, chapter six, it says, for he that is dead is freed from sin, for he that is dead is free from sin. When we become dead to sin because we put our faith in Jesus, that means we no longer are going to live in sin. That's where we get so tripped up. So many of us believe in so many of these false teachers and false prophets and stuff are getting up there, and saying that you could continue living in your sin because God made you that way, because you were created that way. No, that stuff for the. For the. For the ALGBTQ and the transgenders, that stuff is. Is just being preached to itch their itching year so that they could think that they're being saved, when in reality, they're not, because they're still living in sin. But it is the same way not only for the LGBTQ or the transgender, but it's the same for the adulterer, it's the same for the. The drunkard, it's the same for the liar, it's the same for the. For the cheater. Whatever you name it, whatever sin you want to name, that's the same thing. When we've accepted Jesus, when we put our faith in him, when we've been baptized, we are now dead to sin, and we no longer need to live in that sin. We can't continue living in that sin. Peter in 1 Peter, chapter number 4, verses 1 and 2, says this forasm, much then, as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind. For he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin, that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lust of men, but to the will of God. Look at what Peter's telling us here. He's saying that Christ suffered for us in the flesh. We in turn need to suffer for Christ in the flesh. And we suffer for Christ when we go through not only times of trial and temptation, but when we're trying to break that yoke of sin, when we're trying to get away from our old sin nature, sometimes that's causing us to suffer. And a lot of people abandon their faith when they get to that point. They say, wait a minute, I didn't sign up for this. It's all right that Jesus suffered for me, but no, I'm not going to do that for him. And so we don't do that. But Peter says here that we need to be ready with the same mind for when we have suffered in the flesh, we have ceased from sin. When we have suffered in the flesh, we have ceased from sin. Verse 18 of chapter number three of one, Peter says, For Christ also hath once suffered for sins that just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God. Being put to death in the flesh, but quickened or made alive by the Spirit. Christ suffered for sins, we need to be prepared with the same mind that we have to suffer for God, that we need to suffer for Jesus as a result of that, as a result of our suffering, that's going to help us dec. Cease from sin. And verse number two, that we no longer live the rest of our life in the flesh to the lust of man, but instead to the will of God. You see, again, like I've been saying all year long, if you've listened to these podcasts, there's a change there. There's got to be a change. And that's what Peter's talking about here. That's what Paul is talking about here. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Verse number eight of Romans chapter six. Now, if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him. M right, now that's Paul again saying, if we're dead, if we died to sin, if we died with Christ, we know that we're going to live with him as well. Because the same power that raised Christ is going to be raising us as well. Verse number nine. Let's see verse number nine here. Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more death hath no more dominish, and over him. I'm going to read down through verse number 11, verse 10. For in that he died, he died unto sin once, but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God likewise. Reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Again, Awome awesome scriptures here talking about being dead to sin. And we look here in verse number nine, when it says death hath no more dominion over him, that means death doesn't control God anymore or control Jesus anymore. You know, many of us are, to put it bluntly, many of us are afraid of death. But we can trust that the sacrifice of Jesus is what paid for us in there. What paid for that? He that is dead to sin is freed from sin. Don't use that freedom that we have, the freedom that we have because of the death and the resurrection of Jesus. Don't use that freedom that we have as an excuse to sin. Don't use that freedom as an excuse to singulationatians, chapter number five. In verse number 13, Paul says, For brethren, ye have been called unto liberty or freedom only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. Paul is saying here that we've been called to freedom. We have the freedom. We've been freed from sin, we've been freed from the bondage, we've been freed from the yoke of sin. Now don't use, he said, now don't use that freedom to sin. It'exactly what he's saying there, you know, it's because we're free doesn't mean we continue in sin. He says, instead, use that freedom to serve one another. You know, I think that's another stumbling block for so many people when they get into the church, when they get into the Bible, when they start walking with the Lord and living for Jesus. And we get to those verses that talk about us being a servant, a servant of others. I think that's where people a lot of times draw the line. We're too good to be servants. We feel. But you know what? Jesus died, for us. Jesus served his disciples and we need to do the same thing. We need to serve one another in the same way that Jesus served the Lord, that Jesus served his disciples. Friends, as we're walking the life, the path that Jesus wants us to walk, that God is leading us on, we need to make sure that we don't go back to our old lifestyle. We need to make sure that we don't go back to our old thought pattern, our old way. And we need to start living for him, doing what he's called us to do. Tomorrow we're going to take a look at verses, let's see, 12 through 14, 15 in there somewhere. 16. And we're going to see that we have a choice to make each day, each hour, each minute, each second. We're going to see what that choice is. But for today, think about this, think about the concept of being dead to sin, being dead to our old lifestyle, being dead to the things that God has forgiven us for. And take time today as you're reading your Bible, as you're going for that 30 minute walk, take time today and just say thank you to the Lord that you have that freedom. Thank you to the Lord that He's given you that freedom to get away from your sin. Think about that as you go through this day. And remember, get into God's word and allow God's word to get into you. Then share that word with someone today. Have a blessed day.
